Take your Product Owner skills to the next level.
You take pride in your ability to maximize the flow of value to your customers. You want to create products your customers rave about. You want your teams to collaboratively deliver high value, Sprint after Sprint. You want to influence others in the organization by showing what great Product Ownership looks like.
Nothing convinces like delivering. But you already know that.
Sound familiar? You’ve come to the right place.
A Fresh Approach
What does an Agile approach to advanced training look like?
- It is iterative
- Delivered in small slices with validation along the way
- It is collaborative, with small teams working together to continuously improve
- It is focused on delivering the highest value first, inspecting and adapting along the way
Our A-CSPO program is firmly grounded in these Agile principles. Rather than a “big batch” delivery of content, we break the training up into small slices of content with practice in between.
Learn alongside, and work with, other A-CSPO qualified Product Owners from various industries in a cohort-style virtual class. Practice concepts from the class with your team each week and help each other level up.
Upping Your Game
Here’s what to expect.
We meet virtually, every Friday, in a six-week cohort-based program.
Far from some boring slides and a lecture, we have designed these virtual sessions to be every bit as interactive and engaging as our in-person, brain-friendly training approach that thousands of clients have come to know and love.
We integrate our Training from the Back of the Room approach to virtual learning to help you learn new concepts in a way that really sticks. Best of all, the virtual sessions are just a kick-off for the week.
Each session ends with an invitation to practice the new concepts with your team or organization, and the next session always starts with a review of your experience during the week.
Think of each week as a learning Sprint, planned during the virtual session, executed during the week, reviewed at the beginning of the next one.
By the end of this Program, you will be able to:
- Define Value for your organization
- Effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups
- Deeply understand the problems and opportunities for existing and potential customers
- Quickly validate new product and feature ideas
- Effectively create and communicate strategy
- Take an Agile approach to roadmaps and release plans
- Refine your Product Backlog like a pro
This course is not for everyone.
It is for people serious about upping their game around great Product Ownership. It requires a commitment to be present and practice before and during the program. The cohort participants help each other get better and they develop a strong connection and a lasting network of like-minded Product thinkers.
About the Course Facilitators
Peter helps leaders discover how to create the outcomes they care about the most. He draws on a unique combination of deep empathy and keen insight developed by an almost stubborn insistence on staying actively involved in seemingly disconnected fields, including the creative arts, business, psychology, leadership, organizational design, and philosophy. Peter majored in music composition at Arizona State University. He is an in-demand trumpet player and recording engineer.
At Adobe Systems, Peter led an Agile transformation that enabled the shift to a subscription business model. He co-developed the Certified Agile Leadership program for the Scrum Alliance. He has trained, coached, and advised dozens of organizations to create outcomes that range from leadership development, to creating vision and strategy, to creating a culture of innovation, to clarifying and validating customer segments and needs, to reinventing business models and products, to creating high performing, Agile teams.
Peter is a Certified Scrum Trainer, a graduate of the ORSC coaching system, a certified Leadership Agility and Leadership Circle coach, a certified Innovation Games practitioner, and the co-founder of the Humanizing Work company. He is an avid reader and idea-combiner. He is a firm believer in the power of range and a growth mindset. He spends his working hours dedicated to nudging the world of work towards a more human-centric, meaningful, and prosperous future. He spends his other waking hours enjoying time with his wife and five kids, running, hiking, playing golf, and making music and visual arts.
Richard Lawrence’s superpower is bringing together seemingly unrelated fields and ideas to create new possibilities. Drawing on a diverse background in software development, engineering, anthropology, design, and political science, Richard trains and coaches people to collaborate more effectively with other people to solve complex, meaningful problems.
Richard created the wildly-popular “How to Split a User Story” flowchart, which has been downloaded over 1 million times and translated into several languages.
Richard is a Scrum Alliance Certified Enterprise Coach and Certified Scrum Trainer, as well as a certified trainer of the accelerated learning method, Training from the Back of the Room. His book, Behavior-Driven Development with Cucumber, was published by Addison-Wesley in 2019 (for more information, visit bddwithcucumber.com).
When he’s not working with clients, you’ll often find Richard cooking, playing music, practicing Muay Thai, or flying down a mountain on his mountain bike.
Bring this training into your organization! Public courses are great for individuals or small groups to grow their skills in a cost-effective way. But there’s nothing like a private workshop that just includes people from your organization. Private workshops allow you to dig deep into your unique challenges and opportunities.
Commonly Asked Questions.
Do I have to have my CSPO certification already to do A-CSPO?
Yes, A-CSPO builds on CSPO, and Scrum Alliance requires that the courses and certifications be done in order. However, your CSPO doesn’t have to be from us. Our A-CSPO prerequisite assessment and online course will ensure all participants start the program with the same concepts and skills.
Why take your A-CSPO training with us?
Unlike some other A-CSPO courses, we use accelerated learning techniques to maximize learning and retention (this is extremely rare for online courses, in particular).
What is there beyond A-CSPO?
The A-CSPO is part of the Scrum Alliance Path to CSP program. The Scrum Alliance has additional information and available certifications options on their website here.
