Agile product development is a great solution for handling product complexity at the team level. The Certified CAPED Consultant Workshop

You can be that trusted advisor. Your Certified CAPED Consultant journey begins with a highly-interactive 4-day in-person workshop.

The first two days are Days 1 & 2 of CAPED Practitioner, in which you’ll learn how to:

  • Distinguish between complex and complicated work and explain the appropriate approach for each.
  • Use the Humanizing Work Complexity-Aware Planning, Estimation, & Delivery (CAPED) approach to experience the benefits of both agile and traditional project management.
  • Use a 3-level planning system to balance big-picture and detailed planning in a complexity-aware way.
  • Make forecasts that account for risk and complexity so you can find the sweet spot between over- and under-planning the future.
  • Structure teams and their work to scale beyond the work of one team in a way that avoids churn and rework.

Days 3 & 4 dive into the essential skills to help an organization get started with CAPED, including:

  • Essentials of interactive, brain-based training so you can deliver the CAPED Practitioner course effectively
  • How to facilitate a working session to identify and address the highest-priority impediments to adopting CAPED in a particular organizational context
  • How to reliably identify the core complexity of any big initiative so Active Planning focuses on the right thing
  • How to decide between linear and iterative CAPED variations
  • How to do Reference Class Forecasting from scratch
  • Engaging resistance as a resource
  • Designing org change experiments
